Aditya Vagueskin: Making Waves in The Beauty Industry at Twenty-Four
At just 24, Aditya has cemented his place as a force in the beauty industry, turning faces into canvases and makeup into storytelling. From watching YouTube tutorials to painting red carpet looks for the Cannes Film Festival in his early 20s, his artistry is rooted in pushing boundaries, unyielding passion, and creative rebellion. His mantra? “You just gotta fucking do it.”

Renowned makeup artist Aditya, known by his Instagram handle Vagueskin, has always been engaging with his creative side, exploring his artistic expression through various formats from graphic design to painting. But, his foray into makeup began at the age of sixteen with YouTube tutorials, an introduction to contour, and his cosplayer-slash-best friend turned model.
Despite starting at such a young age, through a journey shrouded in self-doubt and questioning, his confidence grew as his career blossomed, now boasting a long list of high-profile clients from singer-songwriter Raisa, supermodel Ayu Gani, to actress and musician Eva Celia. “You just gotta fucking do it.”
Adit is no stranger to art, having explored other mediums from drawing and painting to graphic design. “As an artist, we all have our own media to express our art. Makeup just fits my artistry, visions, and imaginations,” he explained.
Ending 2024 on a high note, Adit received the The Rising Star Innovator Award for his work at Jakarta Fashion Week 2025, a feat that resonates personally as an artist who doesn’t simply roll with trends—rather, puts his own spin on it.
“It makes me—not necessarily validated or feel like I’m enough, but just seen by the beauty community and industry. They get you somehow, even when my art isn’t always made to be understood.”
But, his biggest achievement came earlier in the year when he traveled to France for the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival as the makeup artist for established model and actress Putri Marino, gaining traction for the simple glam look with a pop of bold red lips worn on the red carpet and premiere screening of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
“The preparation was more mental,“ he explained. “I’m always nervous to do something as prominent as this, especially when I’ve never done it before. But remembering Putri’s trust in me—the brand’s trust in me—a quick self-pep talk is all it took.”
Beyond film festivals and fashion week runways, Adit’s work has also been featured on the cover of major fashion publications like Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and Cosmopolitan Indonesia.
“I love exploring all the possibilities of editorial makeup. It’s my baseline; it’s my home. That’s where I belong.”
But behind his strong commitment to editorial makeup is a fascination for the visual arts and mixed media. Incorporating uncommon techniques or mediums and unusual colors into his art, he is driven by an inward push to diversify his artistic range, a big challenge artists tackle to stay fresh and inspired in the creative industry.
To keep his artistry on his toes, Adit experiments with various makeup styles, from natural glam and editorial to avant-garde and even monster face painting. More than just fulfilling industry demands, a diverse portfolio is his key to avoiding burnout and being creatively refreshed and inspired.
“It feeds my soul as an artist, because I get to do more than just push boundaries; I get to sort of destroy them. And that’s creatively uplifting.”
